Enhancing our Past... Envisioning our Future

Federal regulations set by the Environmental Protection Agency require all water systems to develop an inventory of service line materials.  A service line is the pipe connecting a water main to a building.  This file indicates the results of the City of Columbus’ water line investigations, which are now complete.

  • System-owned portion of the service line: Pipe generally located between the City of Columbus’ water main and your water meter.  This pipe is owned and maintained by the City of Columbus.
  • Customer-owned portion of the service line: Pipe generally located between your water meter and your home/building.  This pipe is maintained by the property owner.

Service lines from these investigations have been categorized as non-lead, which means that the service line does not contain lead pipe.  These service lines are typically made of copper, plastic, or steel. While Galvanized Requiring Replacement and Lead are listed service line categories, it is important to note that the City of Columbus water inventory has no lead or galvanized requiring replacement water service lines identified. Customer-owned portions of the service lines were categorized when information was available, otherwise they have been identified as unknown.

The City of Columbus Transportation Plan was developed in partnership with the City of Columbus, Texas Target Communities, and graduate students from Texas A&M University.  These students worked with community stakeholders to identify transportation issues, needs, opportunities, and priorities. The City seeks to improve the road safety and mobility of its residents and requested a transportation plan be created that could evaluate the current conditions and identify potential solutions. Based on collected community feedback priorities for the City’s future transportation system were identified, including maintenance reliability, multi-modal opportunities, and traffic safety. This plan covers the existing conditions for the City’s road network, traffic safety, and pedestrian facilities, and identifies programs and strategies that can be implemented to meet the City’s priorities and goals.
