The City Council of the City of Columbus, Texas met in special session on Monday, May 21, 2007 at 6:30 p.m., in the Council Chambers of City Hall located at 605 Spring Street, Columbus, Texas, with the following present:

                                          Councilman                  -                Curtiss Schonenberg

                                              Councilman               -                Milton Wavra

                                           City Manager                 -                 David Meisell

                                           City Secretary                -              Patti Glaeser

 

        And the following absent:

1.    Call to Order.

Mayor Heffley called the meeting to order at 6:30p.m.

2.    Pledge of Allegiance and Invocation.

Mayor Heffley led the Pledge of Allegiance and the Invocation.

3.    Citizen Presentations and Comments.

There were no citizen presentations or comments.

4.    Canvass the May 12, 2007 City of Columbus General Election and Declare the Results to be Official.

Mayor Heffley presented the vote count for the May 12, 2007 General Election with the following results:

There were a total of 322 votes cast.

Mayor Heffley and the City Council declared the results to be official.

5.    Administer the Oath of Office to the Newly Elected City Officials.

Judge Francis Truchard administered the Oath of Office to Richard Heffley, Mayor.  Mayor Heffley then administered the Oath of Office to Sandra A. Frnka, Place #2 and then to Charles Jim Jack Richardson, Place #1. 

Mayor Heffley thanked Brian Berger for his years of service on the Council.  He presented with a plaque of appreciation.

 

 

 

6.    Discussion and Action to Appoint a Mayor Pro Tem.

Councilman Wavra moved to appoint Curtiss Schonenberg as Mayor Pro Tem.  Councilwoman Frnka seconded the motion.  The vote was as follows:

 

                                    Ayes:  Councilman Richardson, Schonenberg, Rankin, and Wavra

                                               Councilwoman Frnka

The motion passed.

Councilman Wavra – no comment.

Councilman Rankin – no comment.

Councilman Schonenberg congratulated the newly elected Councilmembers.

Councilwoman Frnka – no comment.

Councilman Richardson – no comment.

8.    Announcements.

There were no additional announcements

9.  Adjournment.

     

      There being no further business, Mayor Heffley declared the meeting adjourned at 6:45 pm.
